This band's self-proclaimed goal is to wrestle the genre away for the cisgender men who have been hogging it since the ‘80s. The Tony in the name is Anthony Alfaro. Alfaro has performed on national Broadway tours of Mamma Mia! and On Your Feet! Alfaro has also performed in the film Lust Lives Love and was in the original cast of The View Upstairs off-Broadway. The band is comprised of keyboardist Rodney Bush, guitarist Junior Pauls, bassist Yuka Tadana, and drummer Tristan Marzeki.  All the band’s music is produced by nonbinary musician and synth master Max Vernon.  

Tony and the Kiki released their first EP Light It Up in 2021. The single “Light It Up” is a battle cry warning everyone that the new sound of rock and roll has arrived. The band writes lyrics all about marginalized peoples like those of the indigenous and LGBTQ+ communities.  They draw inspiration from the likes of La Lupe, The Spice Girls, Stevie Nicks and ‘80s glam rock.
