The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble was founded in 1986 by Mort Jonas and Bruce Freeman. Inspired by other musical ensembles focused on supporting gay and lesbian musicians, the founders desired to bring opportunities to this community in Southern Florida. This ensemble performs three main concert events each year, hosted at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, as well as outdoor venues throughout Southern Florida. Collaborating with a variety of other ensembles, including the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus, the MCC Sunshine Cathedral Choir and the Florida Singing Sons Boychoir, the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble seeks to share exceptional live performances with their local communities.
