The Princeton WhistlePigs trace their origins as far back as 1988 when they played in the minor leagues and went by the name “Princeton Rays.” Following the reorganization of the Appalachian League in 2021, the Rays were reintroduced as a team for rising college players and changed their name to the WhistlePigs. The WhistlePigs played their first game in the summer of 2021 against the Burlington Sock Puppets.
The Princeton WhistlePigs’ team colors are brown and yellow, and they play their home games out of Princeton’s H.P. Hunnicutt Field. The WhistlePigs enjoyed considerable success in their inaugural season, closing out the summer with an impressive 30-22 record.
