The team is a member of the National Lacrosse League and competes in the North Division. They entered the league as an expansion team in the NLL led by former Buffalo Bandits coach Les Bartley. 

The team moved to Toronto from Ontario in 1999 and rebranded the team as the Toronto Rock. The relocated franchise quickly found success, taking home the NLL Championship in both 1999 and 2000.
