The Tallis Scholars Concert Tickets
Enjoy a night of sublime choral music with The Tallis Scholars tickets. The Tallis Scholars are a British vocal ensemble known for their a cappella renditions of traditional sacred music. The group was founded in 1973 by Peter Phillips, who had previously studied the organ at Oxford’s St. John’s College. He recruited members of the chapel choirs of both Oxford and Cambridge with a vision of forming an ensemble that would sing sacred songs from the Renaissance era. The group takes its name from 16th-century British composer Thomas Tallis.
By 1987 the Tallis Scholars had turned professional, won a Gramophone Award and become known as the leading ensemble in Renaissance choir music. The group now tours widely across the world, giving highly celebrated performances at the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel in particular. They have released a number of critically acclaimed recordings through their own Gimell Records label, and have proved a formative influence on similar groups that would come after them including The Clerks, The Gabrieli Consort and Octarium. The Tallis Scholars have accumulated several awards, most notably the Gramophone award for Record of the Year and the Diapason D’Or de L’Annee award.
