Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas and hosted by the University of Texas. Track and field competitions are held for High School, College, University and Invitational divisions.
The Texas Relays were used as a substitute for the Kansas Relays in 1925 as a men’s only competition and organized by Clyde Littlefield and Theo Bellmont, who were the track coach and athletic director of the University of Texas at the time. Women’s events were added in 1963. The original site of the Texas Relays was Darryl K Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin. The Relays were moved to Myers Stadium in 1999.

In 1927, three Tarahumaras, a South American tribe famed for their running ability raced from San Antonio to Memorial Stadium, an 88-mile race, resulting in a draw.
Electronic timing was introduced in 1977. Noted runs during the Texas Relays include University of Texas Longhorn football player John Wesley Jones recording a time of 9.85 seconds in the 100 meter dash, which would have been a new world record. It was decided that the timer malfunctioned, so the time is unofficial. Jones would go on to win a gold medal in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
