The Vees were founded in 1961 as one of the charter members of the Okanagan-Mainline Junior A Hockey League, which became the British Columbia Junior Hockey League in 1967. The name Vees does not refer to Victory as commonly thought, but actually refers to three varieties of peaches: Vedette, Valiant and Victory.
