Home games are played in Nuevo Los Camenes, which seats 19,336 and was built in 1995. 

The team was founded on April 6, 1931, and was originally called Recreativo de Granada. The team's first game on the sixth of December of that year was against Deportivo Jaen, with Granada winning 2-1 and Antonio Bombillar scoring the first goal in the club's history.  The team then hosted U.D. Andujar for their first home match with they won 1-0.

The club made its Primera Division debut in the 1941-1942 season against the Cetta, battling to a 1-1 draw with Granada's first goal in La Liga was scored by Cesar Rodriguez Alvarez.  

In 1959, Granada played in the Copa del Generalisimo, now known as Copa del Ray, against Barcelona in Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, losing 1-4. The team would then experience some down years but was promoted back to La Liga in 2011 by being the winner of the promotion play-offs, bringing them back to Primera Division.
