Blind Date Theatre Tickets

Prepare for the entertainment with Blind Date tickets from TicketSmarter. Formed in 1984 in Frankfurt with a whopping nine members, the short-lived German pop outfit Blind Date derived its name from the fact that many of its members did not know each other until the group’s creation. Originally consisting of frontman Uwe Schlürmann, singers Amy and Elaine Goff, percussionist Peter Koch, drummer Bruce Kent, guitarist Matthias Baumgardt, keyboardist James Michael Griffin, saxophonist Roman Müllenbach and multi-instrumentalist Mark Oesterreich, the motley crew would soon whittle down their numbers.

Finding fleeting chart success with the national #17 hit “Your Heart Keeps Burning” in 1985, the group released a full album, Dreamworld, the following year, with the Goff sisters contributing lyrics and Koch and Baumgartner responsible for the lion’s share of the compositions. The LP and its two follow-up singles, “How Did You Get To Me?” and “Hit the Road, Jack”, failed to resonate with audiences; by 1986, just Schlürmann, the Goffs and Koch remained in the band, aided by session musicians and Supermax members Christian Felke and Lothar Krell. They re-issued “Hit the Road, Jack” in the form of a new remix in 1992, which was once again unable to make a commercial impact and was ultimately followed by the group’s disbandment.

The Goffs went on to serve as backing vocalists for Meat Loaf, while Schlürmann became the lead singer of the country group Tumbleweed in 1996. Breathing a new lease of life into “Your Heart Keeps Burning”, house producer Lazard covered the song in 2007, topping the German dance chart. Schlürmann died six years later on July 11th, 2013.
