They released their first album, Dusted, in 1989. Gin Blossoms joined forces with A&M Records in the early 1990s after the success of their first album. The rock group's second album, New Miserable Experience, (1992) proved to be a huge success and became a four-time platinum-certified hit. The album's lead song “Hey Jealousy” landed at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Around this time, co-founder Doug Hopkins was replaced by Scott Johnson.
