His mother instilled in him a love for singing as he would sing along with her favorite artists like Barbara Streisand. Pineda’s mother died when he was 13 and he spent a couple of years in extreme poverty often living on the streets collecting recycling for spare money along with any odd job he could find. At 15, Pineda joined the Filipino group Ijos which would later split off into Amo. While performing for Amo Pineda won multiple competitions for their music. Many members of Amo would eventually reform under Pineda as a new band entitled New Age. The band would grow from performing at Makati in the Philippines to Grammy’s in Hong Kong.
Attracting the attention of labels like Warner Bros. Arnel Pineda tickets are not to be ignored thanks to his amazing vocal talents. In 1999, Warner Bros. flew Pineda back to the Philippines to record his first solo album entitled Arnel Pineda. Pineda would work in Hong Kong until 2006 when he moved back to the Philippines and formed the band The Zoo. Pineda’s time home was short-lived though as in 2007 Pineda was contacted to become the lead singer of the legendary rock band Journey. Pineda released another solo project, AP in 2016 and can be heard on Journey’s 2008 and 2011 albums, Revelation and Eclipse respectively.
