Dave Koz, sometimes known as “DK,” began his musical career just a few short weeks after he graduated from college in 1986. He was almost immediately recruited as a member of Bobby Caldwell’s tour, originally playing rock music before moving to smooth jazz. He began a recurring role as the guest saxophonist on late-night talk show The Arsenio Hall Show and played in the house band for The Pat Sajak Show.
In 1989, he began pursuing a solo music career with Capitol Records, releasing four albums under the company. Saxophonic, his second album, was nominated for a Grammy Award and an NAACP Image Award.
In 1992, he was recruited to write the new theme song for General Hospital. He wrote the song “Faces of the Heart,” which was used as the title theme from 1993 until 2004.
