The Chili Bowl is an annual indoor midget car racing event that features some of the world’s top racing drivers competing. The race takes place inside the Tulsa Expo Center at 4145 E 21st St, Tulsa, OK 74114 where a ¼ mile dirt track is built for drivers to compete on throughout the week. The Chili Bowl Nationals is held in January, which is the normal offseason for North American motorsports due to the cold weather. This allows drivers from multiple disciplines of racing to compete in the event including USAC, World of Outlaws, IndyCar, NASCAR, and NHRA.

The inaugural event was held in 1987 and was won by the legendary Rich Vogler. Since then, the event has become known as the “Super Bowl of midget racing” and has well over 300 driver entries each year. Chili Bowl Nationals tickets are a must-have for any serious motorsports fan. The most dominant participants in the history of the race are the Swindell family, with the father and son duo of Sammy and Kevin having won a combined 9 Chili Bowl Nationals titles. Other drivers who have won the event and taken home the Golden Driller trophy include the likes of Tony Stewart, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, and Bryan Clauson.

Chili Bowl Nationals Ticket Prices

Chili Bowl Nationals ticket prices will vary between each day of the event based on a number of factors. Some of the variables that will affect the cost of tickets are the day of the week, drivers competing on different days, and the seating location inside the Tulsa Expo Center.

How much are Chili Bowl Nationals tickets?

Chili Bowl Nationals tickets are generally sold as a complete set but may be split up into separate tickets for the different days of the event. The event begins on a Monday and ends on a Saturday. Tickets for the earlier days of the event will start at prices around $60. Friday and Saturday night tickets will be much more expensive as more fans will be able to attend on the weekend. Fans can also buy general admission pit passes which will go for anywhere from $60 to $100 depending on the race night.

Chili Bowl Nationals Dates & Schedule

The Chili Bowl Nationals schedule takes place in mid-January. The inaugural race held in 1987 was a single-day event, but it has since grown into a multi-day motorsports festival. In 2019, the Chili Bowl expanded from five days to six days in order to accommodate the large growth in car count. The Chili Bowl schedule features an incredibly tough format that makes it difficult for even the best drivers to qualify for the Saturday night championship A-Main event. Drivers are assigned to qualifying nights where they must charge through heat races, qualifiers, and preliminary feature races in an effort to make the Saturday night A-Main.

Saturday will feature every car that entered the event competing in a series of feature races in an attempt to run the alphabet hoping to reach the final starting spots of the A-Main. The races will start on Saturday morning and will conclude with the 24-car, 55-lap A-Main starting around 10:30 pm local time.
