Born in Pennsylvania, the singer-songwriter first entered the music scene in 1990. However, he began practicing piano when he was just a child to cope with the abuse he’d sustained growing up. He attributes his earliest musical influences to Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. Croce ended up taking his first gig at age 12 when he was paid to perform at a bar mitzvah.

Eventually, he released his debut self-titled album in 1993. Although the album gained popularity among fans, he didn’t start gaining more widespread appraisal until his third album, Fit to Serve (1998), was released. Since the start of his career, he has released over 10 studio albums.
