Though there were rumors of a breakup, the band reunited in 2012 and continues to tour and record today. They released their first album in over a decade, Schadenfreude, in 2020. Shiner has been widely praised for its catchy riffs yet sophisticated instrumentation. They have often been described as “math rock” artists, as their songs belie complex and highly technical arrangements.
