Leonard Haze, Bob Gardner, Wayne Stitzer and Dave Meniketti had an unnamed cover band. When they received a call for their first gig they needed a name and chose a random album on a nearby table: the Beatles’ Yesterday and Today. They started writing original material in 1974. Y&T toured extensively with the likes of Journey, Queen, and Kiss. Despite a lack of success, Y&T started playing larger venues with explicitly heavy metal groups like Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne.
