James Travis Tritt was born on February 9, 1963, and is an American country music singer, songwriter and actor. Raised in Marietta, Ga., to James and Gwen Tritt, Travis first took an interest in singing during a Sunday school choir performance of "Everything Is Beautiful." Tritt began writing music while attending high school and his first song was entitled "Spend a Little Time," which was about breaking up with a girlfriend. Tritt signed to Warner Brothers Records in 1989 and since then he has released seven studio albums and a greatest hits package. Tritt also released three albums on Columbia Records. Seven of his albums are certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America. The most successful album of his catalog is his 1991 release It’s All About to Change, which reached triple-platinum status. Tritt’s style is defined by mainstream country and he has charted 40 times on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Travis has received two Grammy Awards, both for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
