The band’s lyrics and style mimic the sudden and unexpected violence characteristic of the play, and they combine elements from newer psychedelic, folk, and pop-rock styles to create a sound described by critics as “moody,” “irreverent” and “philosophical.”
The group began touring after their debut album, The Airing of Grievances, received widespread positive reviews. They have released a number of concept albums, most notably The Monitor in 2010.
