The singer and multi-instrumentalist was born August 19, 1974, in Omaha, Neb., and is the lead singer of the bands Cursive and The Good Life, both of which are based in Omaha. He has been part of numerous bands from the Omaha area as well as performing as a solo artist.

Kasher was a founding member of the group Slowdown Virginia in 1993, along with Matt Maginn, Steve Pederson and Casey Carniglia after the dissolving of his previous band The March Hares. The sound of the band was reminiscent of bands such as Pavement and the Pixies. The group’s debut album, Dead Space, was released before the band broke up in 1995.

The band produced two albums before Kasher left the band to move to Portland in 1998, effectively breaking up the band. During his tenure with Cursive, he also released two albums with the band Commander Venus. Kasher’s debut solo album, The Game of Monogamy, was released on October 5, 2010. He released a follow-up EP, Bigamy: More Songs from the Monogamy Sessions, in 2011. His second full album, Adult Film, was released in 2013.
