Capitol Theatre in Wheeling was the first of many performances for the Wheeling Jamboree. After this premiere event, Wheeling Jamboree performed at a new location each Saturday. Thirteen years later, the Wheeling Jamboree was featured on the “CBS Radio Saturday Night Country Style, and their career took off from here.
After CBS featured the Wheeling Jamboree, they dropped a country music format while keeping the Saturday night broadcasts. The Wheeling Jamboree went on their first tour in April of 1939 and featured seven different bands and two solo performers. For many years, the Wheeling Jamboree aired on WWVA until 2006 when they aired on WKKX. Brad Paisley played a huge part in keeping the Wheeling Jamboree up and going by creating a non-profit organization to support their goals. By 2014, the Wheeling Jamboree was performing an anniversary show, a Christmas show, and a summer show.
