The two met in a guitar seminar at Belmont University and began writing and playing together. They debuted at Nashville, TN’s Bluebird cafe. In 2012 they self-released their self titled EP.

Sarah and Justin are not just talented guitar players but also accomplished songwriters. The two wrote songs like “When The Right One Comes Along” and “Hanging On A Lie,” that ended up on the Television show Nashville. They went on to write 9 total songs that were sung on the show. 

In 2015 Striking Matches signed to I.R.S. Records. Their debut album “Nothing But The Silence” was released and made its way to #1 on the UK Country iTunes chart. Their second full-length album, “A Modern Romance,” was released in 2018 with Capitol Records. In 2019 and 2020, they put together a 3 EP series that they released throughout the year.
