The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies began as the Montreal Junior Canadiens in the early 20th century. As the Canadiens they enjoyed much success, winning three Memorial Cups between 1950 and 1970. They then played out of both Verdun and Saint-Hyacinthe before transferring to Rouyn-Noranda in 1996.
Not slowed by the move, the Huskies continued their successes in the new city. They won five regular-season titles between 1998 and 2016, enjoying a particularly strong year in 2007 when they won their first Jean Rougeau Trophy. In 2016 the Huskies posted the best record in their history with 113 points overall. That same year they secured their first President’s Cup. The team has since secured both another President’s Cup and Memorial Cup.
