He appeared in two other Jonathan Demme films, The Manchurian Candidate and Rachel Getting Married, in which he sang and played the guitar in the band at the wedding reception.

Other than the Soft Boys, Hitchcock has played and recorded with the Egyptians and Venus 3, as well as releasing his own solo albums. He and his bands have released multiple EPs, compilation albums, live albums and over 20 studio albums, including his own 2020 self-titled LP, Robyn Hitchcock. Hitchcock has toured extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe, and has performed at multiple music festivals, including Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Ottawa Bluesfest and the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
