The band infiltrated the mainstream with the number five single 'This Is Not a Love Song' with the glorious pop of 'Rise' and went on to release nine studio albums before their split in 1992.

However, the band reformed in 2009 with the line-up now featuring its 39th different member. In 2009 they made their first live appearance in 17 years. They returned to the studio to work on new material, resulting in the EP 'One Drop' released in 2012. A full-length album followed in the form of 'This Is PiL', their first studio album in 20 years. They followed this with 'What the World Needs Now...' in 2015 with the lead single 'Double Trouble' officially marking their return.
