The original group consisted of Danny Elfman, his brother Richard Elfman (who has now passed from cancer at the age of 57), John Avila and Kerry Hatch. They were all siblings or childhood friends who attended Fountain Valley High School where they formed a band under the name Fred Elizalde & His Muchachos. Oingo Boingo was largely a studio project for Danny Elfman, who had been the keyboardist of The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo and later became their lead singer as well. In 1983, the group released their most successful album titled "Only A Lad." The album contained songs that would become fan favorites like "Weird Science" and a cover of Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs And Ham."
