Marianella Rojaswas, aka Nella, was born in 1989 on the Island of Margarita in Porlamar, Venezuela. She moved around both North and South America pursuing an education in music, eventually graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. At school Nella meet Javier Limon, a producer and songwriter from Madrid, who introduced her to Andalusian music, the style her music would come to embody. Andalusian music a mixture of traditional Spanish folk songs and flamenco. 

In 2018 Asghar Farhadi, who won an Academy-award for The Salesman, cast Nella to both sing and act in his movie Everybody Knows. Starting in 2019 she toured the world performing music from that film as well as Venezuelan folk music. That same year she performed at the Latin Grammys and won Best New Artist at that same event. 

2019 also saw the debut of Nella’s first studio album Voy. The New York Times the first single from that album, also entitled “Voy,” as 14th Best Song of 2019. Later that year she performed during Hispanic Heritage Month in Washington, D.C.,  making a tribute to her native Venezuela.
