They got their big break in 1998 with the release of Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo, which was certified gold and peaked at No. 99 on the Billboards 200. Their rise to stardom was swift after that. In 2000, MxPx debuted The Ever Passing Moment, which helped them gain a slot supporting a tour with Conspiracy of One, The Offspring and Cypress Hill.

Additionally, the song was featured in the television move Is It Fall Yet? The band's seventh studio album, Panic, was released and featured singer-bassist Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 and +44 with "Heard That Sound." The band focused on touring to support their newest album for the next two years before releasing Secret Weapon in 2007. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard's Christian chart and No 76. On the Billboard 200.
