Manic Hispanic formed in 1992 in Orange County, taking their name from a reference to the Manic Panic hair dye popular in punk rock circles. Three years later they released their debut album through Doctor Dream Records, The Menudo Incident. The album was a humorous nod to the Guns N’ Roses album The Spaghetti Incident and featured Latin music-infused covers of songs by The Buzzcocks, Black Flag and The Clash, among others. Apart from their tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Manic Hispanic have grown a devoted following for their political undertones and celebrated Cinco de Mayo performances.
