The founding members met while attending Sonoma State University as part of the school’s jazz program and the following year vocalist and guitarist Harrison Stafford created the record label Young Tree Records, where the group has released their music ever since. 

The group’s debut album, Young Tree, was released in 1999 on their label and featured early fan favorite tracks “Groundation Chant” and “Long, Long Ago”. They expanded in 2000 with the addition of trumpet and trombone players, expanding their dub and jazz-infused reggae style even further. Their signature sound has brought together the genres with Latin and African percussion and soulful vocals as heard on their critically acclaimed 2003 album, Hebron Gate. The album featured two songs in collaboration with Jamaican reggae legend Don Carlos as well as roots hits like “Jah Jah Know”. The band’s progressive sound continued with 2004’s We Free Again and 2006’s Dub Wars. They have consistently toured all over the world and released music for their massive fan base, dropping The New Generation in 2018 as well as a live version in 2020.
