Since 1994 the team has played as a part of the United States Hockey League, being a successor to the older Green Bay Bobcats who played until 1981. Since their first season, the Gamblers have been one of the leading Junior “A” teams in North America, having won a selection of championships on a regular basis.

The Gamblers won back-to-back Anderson Cup titles in 1996 and 1997 which helped to solidify the team’s reputation. Green Bay also won the Clark Cup in 1996. The team enjoyed another rash of success from 2009 to 2012, winning five of the eight titles with dual Anderson and Clark championships in 2010 and 2012.  Former head coach Jon Cooper is a well-known alumnus of the Gamblers, being the first USHL coach to lead an NHL team, going on to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2013.
