It was founded by Artistic Director Sally Seven in 1971 and eventually merged with Summerfest School of Grand Rapid, a school for developing professional dancers. Since then, it has grown to more than 270 students who perform throughout the state. The professional company has toured throughout the United States and Canada. 

Students between 10 and 19 years old can join the Junior Company and perform alongside the professional dancers as well as in their own productions. Under the leadership of Director Attila Mosolygo, members of the Junior Company make great strides towards reaching their potential and fulfilling their dreams. They can participate in amazing productions and develop a solid ballet foundation.
