The group was originally called the Les Eperviers de Hull, and then called Les Castors de Hull and then Hull-Volant Junior A. The team competed in the Central Junior A Hockey League when it was created. The league was relegated to a Tier II Junior “A” in 1970. The team became the Hulls in 1972 and then joined the QMJHL in 1973.
