The Portuguese football team Futebol Clube de Famalicao, commonly called Famalicao, is based in Vila Nova de Famalicao, playing their home games at Estadio Municipal de Famalicao, which seats 5,307. The team competes in the Primeira Liga, the top level of football in Portugal.

The club was founded by six friends on August 21, 1931. The team had its competitive debut against FC Porto in 1932 as the ground opening of Campo de Barberia, which was their first home stadium. The team joined the Regional Promotion Championship in the 1932-33 season, winning the championship in their first year.

In 2015, the team began to play in the LigaPro, which is right below the Primeira Liga. Famalicao finished second in the league in the 2018-19 season, which earned a promotion to Primeira Liga in 2019.
