Dervish released their debut album The Boys of Sligo in 1989, and their first album featuring Jordan, Harmony Hill, in 1993. They quickly met with critical acclaim for their faithful and skilled renditions of traditional Irish folk songs.

In 2007, Dervish represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, where they advanced to the finals. The event greatly increased the band’s exposure, and they soon set off on a series of tours to a newly invigorated fanbase. In 2019, Dervish released their album The Great Irish Song Book, which featured renditions of Irish classics through multiple decades. Later that year the band received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the BBC for their preservation of Irish culture.
