In 1989, Los Angeles-based Brujeria, which means witchcraft, was formed with vocalist Juan Brujo, guitarist Asesino, bass player Güero Sin Fe and drummer Fantasma. The Dead Kennedys founder Jello Biafra even participated in some of their earlier shows and also released some singles with them under his record label, Alternative Tentacles Records.

Their third album, Brujerizmo, came out in 2000, and they didn't release another full-length album for over fifteen years until Poco Aztlan in 2016. They have toured with such bands as Unidad Tram, Nocturnal Hollow and Six Million Dead to name just three. Their songs have even been featured on the hit Netflix series Ozark.
