Originally named Bruce and the Range, the group formed by Hornsby consisted of David Mansfield, George Marinelli, Joe Puerta and John Molo. His career started with his biggest hit to date “The Way It Is,” which topped the American music charts in 1986. Between 1998 and 2000, his touring band underwent extensive changes, leading to the new band called the Noisemakers. The new group consisted of Steve Kimock on guitar, John ‘J.T.’ Thomas on keyboards and organ, J.V. Collier on bass, Doug Derryberry on guitar and mandolin, Sonny Emory on drums and Bobby Read on electronic woodwinds.
Hornby’s recordings have been recognized on several occasions with industry awards like the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album and the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. Bruce has worked with several heavy hitters in the music industry like Eric Clapton, Ricky Skaggs, Bon Iver, Elton John and Sting.
