The team replaced the original Blast, which played from 1980-1992. The Blast plays their home games in SECU Arena at Towson University, which seats 3,580.

When the team was founded in 1992, the team was originally called the Baltimore Spirit and played in the National Professional Soccer League, playing their home games in the Royal Farms Arena. The team was renamed the Blast in 1998. Baltimore joined the MASL starting in the 2014-15 season. The team moved to the SECU Arena in 2017.

He led the league in goals with 34 in 1984, the year he led the Blast to a MISL Championship.  He also won the MISL MVP award that same year. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004.

Other notable Hall of Famers include Mike Stankovic, a fellow Serbian player and Kenny Cooper who coached and Danny Kelly who was a midfielder and a coach.
