Shortly thereafter, the shoegaze metal group dropped their second EP, Stargazer. After gaining a faithful fanbase, Astronoid recruited former members of the post-hardcore band Hetfield & Hetfield and released their debut album, Air, in 2016. The album received widespread critical acclaim, earning a 4.5 star out of 5-star review from AllMusic, New Noise Magazine, and The Independent Voice. Air (2016) was also placed as No. 31 on Stereogum’s list of best albums through June 2016 and as No. 1 on Graham Hartmann’s Top 5 Rock + Metal albums of 2016 in Loudwire magazine.
