In 2021, Aespa released their follow-up singles “Forever” and “Next Level,” which saw the group take a turn toward more dance and hip-hop-infused instrumentation. “Next Level” reached the number two spot on the Gaon Digital Chart, the group’s first top-five hit in South Korea. The single also reached the number three spot on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. Later that year Aespa released their debut EP Savage, which made it into the top 20 on the Billboard 200.
