Due to limited success, the sets of brothers decided to join forces. Their debut album, Forever My Lady, was released in 1991. It boasted two Billboard Hot 100 singles in “Come and Talk to Me” and “Forever My Lady.” Jodeci built off their success with the release of The Show, the After Party, the Hotel in 1995. It was on this album that the group began to experiment with musical styles that aren’t usually found in traditional R&B. A heavy dose of hip hop led Jodeci to be portrayed as a hip hop group during the early 1990s. Swing, gospel and soul were other genres featured on this album that marked a shift in their musical identity.
Jodeci announced a hiatus in 1996. K-Ci and JoJo released five albums as a duo during the break. They reunited with the album The Past, the Present, the Future in 2015.
