The founder of Sir Chloe, Dana Foote, formed the band as a senior at Bennington College in Vermont and chose the name “Chloe” because her mother had almost named her that at birth. Instead of writing a typical thesis for college, Dana put on a concert with the other members—Teddy O’Mara, guitarist and producer, Willy Giambalvo, drums, and Pixel West, bass. Later on, Dana’s brother Palmer joined the group, along with Austin Holmes. Together, the band worked on Dana’s songs to create their own unique sound that drew inspiration from St. Vincent and Andy Shauf, as well as Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy and Bella Barton.
Starting out as a self-taught musician, Dana began with guitar and then moved on to piano, mandolin, accordion and harmonium. Later at Bennington, she studied theory and composition to have a solid foundation for her creativity. As a result, her songs are multi-layered, combining rock sounds with personal lyrics that let you relate on a deeper level. Dana’s first single, “Animal,” came out in 2019 and landed her on the feminist rock band stage. In 2020, Terrible Records released Sir Chloe’s debut EP, Party Favors.
