The Fraser Valley Trade and Exhibition Centre was originally constructed in 1991 through a partnership between the Airshow Canada and BC Pavilion Corporation groups. In the early 2000s however, the Tourism Abbotsford Society took control as part of an initiative to develop tourist attractions in the city.
