Serauxmen Stadium was built in 1972 when the District Baseball Association and the Nanaimo school district signed an agreement to build a baseball field where the old mines used to operate behind the Nanaimo District Secondary School. Two years later, the grass and fencing went up and more than $300,000 worth of concrete was poured to make this stadium stand.

Serauxmen Stadium officially opened on July 31, 1976, where legend Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees, along with Jim Piersall of the Boston Red Sox were there to celebrate the grand opening of the stadium. Four years later, the stadium expanded by adding bleachers to the South End.
