On September 1, 1983, the arena was renamed the NEC Arena. The name was changed again on September 1, 2008, to the LG Arena as part of a sponsorship agreement with the Korean electronics company. Around the same time, the arena experienced a 29-million-pound renovation, which included the addition of approximately 1,000 seats, an area for bars and restaurants and retail shops and a hospitality area.
