Morse Field at Harold Alfond Sports Stadium opened in 1947 and was designed by the architectural firm WBRC Architects. It was first known as Alumni Field up until 1997. The stadium underwent massive renovations after the seating was condemned and demolished. It was then replaced with the current grandstand, with a temporary structure on the left side for more seating. The renovations took two years to complete with new press and luxury levels along with lights, concessions and restroom amenities. The stadium was then dedicated in 1998 to the longtime University of Maine booster, Harold Alfond. The field was named after Phillip and Susan Morse, who donated the lights.
