Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field saw its first game of action on September 26, 1903, when the Holy Cross Crusaders football team took on the UMass Amherst Minutemen. The stadium was first named Holy Cross Field for two years in the beginning until it was changed to Fitton Field for a century when the name changed again to Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. It is named after Reverend James Fitton, who donated the land the college sits on today. The stadium has a capacity of 3,000 spectators and the surface of the field is made of grass.
