The Electric Brixton can accommodate 1,700 as a nightclub and 1,500 for live concerts. The building the nightclub is housed in was originally designed as an Edwardian neo-classical and baroque edifice by Gilbert Booth and opened as the Palladium Picture Playhouse on March 20, 1913. The venue stayed a cinema until closing in 1981 though it changed names multiple times. The first name change was to the Regal in 1956 and the ABC in 1973 before becoming a roller disco called the ACE in 1977.
You can expect to always have a great time with Electric Brixton tickets. The ornate facade on the front was replaced during a renovation in 1955 by a modernist post-war austere façade. In 1981, the Fridge, a nightclub that had originally been established on Brixton’s famed Electric Avenue moved into the building.
The Fridge was an extremely popular and iconic nightclub for several years, with its trance nights on Friday and Saturday nights, where it ran as a gay nightclub. The Fridge closed in 2010. The Brixton performed extensive interior refurbishments using a blue and gold color scheme and reopened in September 2011.
