By the mid-90s, the Jamboree had developed a raucous reputation for its booze-fueled fights and strip shows. The event calmed somewhat in the early 2000s following its being sold to the Queens City Kinsmen non-profit organization. The Craven Country Jamboree is now known as a traditional country music festival with a minimalist, back-to-basics format. In 2016 the festival was absorbed into the Country Thunder series.
