Originally the venue was called the Deja Blue Arena and changed its name when it was renovated in 2008, becoming the Dr. Pepper Arena. Currently, it is used as executive offices and a practice facility for the National Hockey League's (NHL) Dallas Stars. It is also home to the Texas Legends, which is a National Basketball League (NBA) G League team. They are an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks NBA team. Starting in 2020, the Frisco Fighters, an Indoor Football League (IFL) team, will call the Comerica Center home. When not used as a sporting complex, the venue hosts with artists, such as, KC and the Sunshine Band and Skillet.

However, for concerts that number goes up to 7,000, with a majority of the tickets sold on the arena floor as standing room only. The events schedule for the Comerica Center features sporting activities, concerts and other forms of live entertainment. The south parking lot has been used for multiple Cirque du Soleil’s Grand Chapiteau performances. In 2016, the arena was converted into a basketball court to host the NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Elite Eight round.
