Belasco Theatre - NY Event Tickets
The Belasco Theatre was originally named the Stuyvesant Theatre and is located at 111 West 44th Street in New York City, New York. Belasco Theatre tickets are a part of Broadway history as the theatre is more than 100 years old, it opened on October 16, 1907. Above the theatre, David Belasco also built a 10-bedroom duplex penthouse where he held most of his theatre memorabilia. The theatre was restored in 2010 back to its original beauty. Today the theatre is owned by the Shubert Organization and was purchased by the Shuberts in 1949. When the theatre first opened it was equipped with the most advanced stage equipment, as well as, an abundant workshop and events space that was located under its stage.
The Belasco has a rich history with a long list of classic Broadway productions and performances dating back to the early 1900s. In 1946, Marlon Brando had his first big success at this venue with the production of Maxwell Anderson’s Truckline Cafe. Other classics include The Crucible, which returned to the Belasco Theatre in 1964, and Dracula the Musical in 2004. More recently, Hedwig and The Angry Inch debuted in 2014 and had the longest run at the Belasco. In 2019, the theatre hosted the screening of Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and it was the first film screening in Belasco’s 112-year history. Some people say that the ghost of David Belasco haunted the theatre until the debut of the production Oh, Calcutta in 1971.
